AFRICAN TRADE OFFICE

VISION

The vision is to connect investments between Africa and the state of North Carolina, USA. The gap in trade and investment can only be bridged through strategic partnerships among investors in North Carolina and their African counterparts. With strategic partnerships, North Carolina’s trade with Africa will not be restricted to a traditional export to Africa only. The vision is to encourage Africa to invest in North Carolina, and vice versa.

PROGRAMS

Our programs support buyers, distributors, manufacturers, farmers across state lines. We monitor projects, create public/private partnerships and Ad Hoc project teams. Our programs are designed to support investments from bottom up. This means that we work with individuals or organizations to support productivity through monitoring projects with milestones in mind. We employ technology to reduce costs and speed up completions. The approach is to expand productivity by engaging or supporting organizations, no matter their sizes.

STRATEGY

We hold conferences and workshops to gauge the readiness of the participants to invest or judiciously utilize investment funds. We work with teams of individuals and organizations to bridge gaps and build bridges.

CURRENT & UPCOMING WORKSHOPS

ABA WORKSHOP

African fashion has gained tremendous popularity due to the ever-growing population of Diaspora Africans and the heightened interest in African wears. Besides, there are bags, belts, headgear, foot-wears that are being exported into the United States from Africa and China. The qualities of Nigerian made fashion products are very high compared to China and, the costs are lower given the exchange rates. The workshop in Aba is being held to identify the individuals or vendors that US buyers will be using. Given the scale of production in Nigeria, the workshop will also identify producers/manufacturers who can partner with US investors for mass production of fashion products.

This is an opportunity for states, stakeholders, private and public organizations to sponsor small scale operators and artisans to be trained to the level they can mass produce quality products for the international market. This workshop comes up on Thursday, March 07, 2024 at Romay Hotel, 18 Opobo Road, Aba. Registration is required.
